From RCH to RCTX: A Year in Review and a Look Towards 2021
Dear valued partner,
We’ve been thinking about you during this challenging past year and hope you, your families and your team members are safe and doing well.
We are proud to present our new logo and our new name: Retina Consultants of Texas. It has been our honor and privilege to care for your patients as Retina Consultants of Houston this past decade. We look forward to bringing our services to other parts of the state as Retina Consultants of Texas in the near future.
This 28th edition of our annual calendar is a special collaboration between our practice and five other retina-only groups across the country that formed a partnership as Retina Consultants of America. We are proud to showcase work from our partners at Retina Group of Florida, Vitreoretinal Consultants in New York, Retina Consultants Medical Group in northern California, California Retina Consultants and Vitreoretinal Surgery, PA in Minnesota.
This past year was challenging in many ways and we are grateful to our staff for their hard work and dedication as we navigated the pandemic together.
After more than 40 years in clinical practice, Dr. Ronan E. O’Malley, MD made the decision to retire in June of 2020. Dr. O’Malley had an incredible impact not only in the Houston and Southeast Texas communities, but throughout the country. He pioneered closed posterior vitrectomy for premature infants and partook in the groundbreaking Avastin for Retinopathy of Prematurity study. He is sorely missed by his patients and all of us at RCTX.
In the fall of 2020, we welcomed two new physicians to our practice. Dr. Sagar B. Patel, MD and Dr. Vy T. Nguyen, MD. Both Dr. Patel and Dr. Nguyen have attained numerous honors and awards and trained at top retina programs. We invite you to get to know them at retinaconsultantstexas.com.
We are always looking to better serve patients throughout the Houston area. This past year, we expanded our research departments at our clinics in The Woodlands and Katy. We also opened a new clinic in Pearland.
In the year ahead, we look forward to a new uveitis specialist joining our practice and the opening of our new flagship clinic in Bellaire located at 4460 Bissonnet St., Ste. 200, Bellaire, TX 77401. This office has been in the works for many years and we’re looking forward to seeing both clinic and research patients at this new location in February.
Thank you for working with us this past year to help prevent blindness even during times of crisis. Retina issues are often sight threatening and we appreciate your partnership this past year as we worked together to care for our patients.
Wishing you a healthy and prosperous 2021.
