VIDEO: RCH Surgeons Develop New ‘Texas Taco’ Surgical Technique
Medical and surgical retina specialists at Retina Consultants of Houston have developed a new surgical technique for the repair of chronic, larger full thickness macular holes. The novel ILM flap procedure, which was recently described and published in the March edition of the journal Retina, was coined “The Texas Taco” for the way the tissues fold over the macular hole to improve closure rates and improve postoperative visual acuity.
This technique was researched at Retina Consultants of Houston by Dr. James C. Major, Jr, MD, PhD, Charles C. Wykoff, MD, PhD, David M. Brown, MD, Tien P. Wong, MD and Ankoor R. Shah, MD.
